This must be a first.
Everyone is happy that Winter is Here. And to stress reality even further, no one cares that “Winter” and “Here” means April. Where are the spring lovers? Where are the paeans to April? Where are the odes to blooming lilies and spring skies?
The White Walkers have banned them all.
So, after an excruciatingly long 2-year wait, the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones is finally here!
How are you going to welcome it oh Citizens? Glass of beer in one hand, T-bone steak in the other? Wine in a skull-shaped cup? Solitary, under the blanket, or in the company of dozens of fellow Gameofthroniacs?
We decided to welcome it with what matters most. Trivia. Yes, trivia. After all, isn’t trivia the best way to go through a long and never ending winter? So, read below Citizens, the details you have always wanted to know about GOT!
• No character of GOT has appeared in every episode.
• Game of Thrones is, along with “Friends” the most expensive TV show of all time (although most of the Friends budget went to its stars’ salaries).
• More than 45 of the main characters have died during the first seven seasons.
• In 2012, over 150 baby girls in the U.S. were legally named “Khaleesi”.
• The character of Joffrey Baratheon was modeled after the insane Roman emperor Caligula.
• Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, who plays Gregor “the Mountain” Clegane, is 2.06 meters tall.
• Queen Elizabeth II visited the sets at Paint Hall Studios in Belfast and was offered the chance to sit on the Iron Throne but declined, as the monarch of Great Britain is not allowed to sit on a foreign throne, even a fictional one. Exactly, as King Billy would do!
• GOT features ten actors from the “Harry Potter” film series.
• Cersei Lannister, played by Lena Headey, was voted by fans as the series most hated character.
• While filming season 7 in Iceland, temperatures sometimes dropped down to -29°C. Winter was really there!
• The rating of the seasons on IMDB so far:
• Top episode of all times so far: Season 6 Episode 9 “Battle of the Bastards”.
• Game of Thrones has 47 Emmy Awards, more than any other scripted series in history!
